ABOUT US
Hi! I am Emma Carson. Welcome to our website. Here is a bit about me…
I created 25 Stories: The Life of an Indian Taxi Driver after my 3rd trip to India in less than a year. Vijay Singh was my driver for all three trips. One day, we got talking about his previous customers and that was the moment my life changed forever.
You see, I used to work for a top 5 bank in Canada as a Senior Financial Advisor, and I saw too many regular people with poor spending habits and stuck in their lives...and so was I. I needed a change, I needed to be authentic with who I am.
So, I started 25 Stories to give you a taste of what it is like in someone else's shoes without having to leave the house.
The journey to finding myself, didn’t stop there. While walking my pup Ozzie one beautiful morning, Darsh (a character from Darsh and Mr. Mahua Become Friends) popped into my head. I stopped immediately and jotted down the main storyline.
I spoke to a good friend of mine and discussed if her son would be interested in illustrating a book for me and magic happened. I gave him some pencil drawings and he created spectacular images, bringing out exactly what I had envisioned.
In November 2019, Darsh and Mr. Mahua Become Friends won GOLD at the Mom’s Choice Awards!!! I was unbelievably happy! I couldn’t believe it…my first children’s picture book and it won GOLD!
I still didn’t feel like I was on the right path yet. While finding success, I wasn’t quite on my true path.
After some deep introspection, I thought about my specialties and it hit me hard!
There were so many parents, my clients from the bank, that begged me to help them teach their children money basics. Each one that asked brought their children in for a one on one mini money manager lesson. They loved it and so did their parents.
That is where the Kids’ Money Course originated. I took the rest of that day and made an outline of all the courses, encompassing all age groups.
We are just in the final editing stage of the Kids’ Money Course 101, the first steps in introducing the concept of money to kids.
However, there is one more piece of the puzzle. I felt that we needed to be more than just learning about money.
I don’t know about you, but it is devastating to me to hear about another child committing suicide. When I look at my own experiences, I realized that many of our youth fly by the seat of their pants, making decisions that affect their lives and the lives of others, without actually realizing the consequences of each action.
I felt an obligation to incorporate decision-making skills and other virtues to increase the child(ren)’s self-confidence.
In the Kids’ Money Course, they will learn to make healthy decisions to set them up for success for the rest of their lives both financially and personally.
Lessons that can be brought into any aspect of their lives.
The Kids’ Money Course is all that I dreamed it would be and more. One of my proudest accomplishments and I can’t wait to hear what you think.
